Corporate History
 
Technology Solutions & Services (TSS) is a minority-owned and operated information technology firm founded in July 1995 as a Sole Proprietorship, by Darrick Estes, to provide turnkey solutions to Commercial and Federal clients. TSS also provides LAN/WAN and information technology solutions.
 
Technology Solutions & Services was granted 8 (a) certification by SBA in May of 1997 and has been certified as a Minority Business Enterprise in the State of Maryland, Metropolitan Transit Authority, Prince George's County and the City of Baltimore since 1996.
 
TSS has developed strong ties to other information technology companies and individuals who collectively provide over 80 year's experience and expertise in the areas of maintenance, LAN/WAN network services, telecommunications services, imaging, system acquisition and system integration. Each member of the TSS technical team is committed to the success of the contract and is available to provide full time resource or temporary full time expertise to ensure the success of the contract.

System Acquisition, Network Support and Maintenance Division
 
Division Overview
TSS's experienced technical personnel possess a wide range of LAN/WAN skills needed to provide complete "turnkey" services for our customers. TSS will recruit experienced personnel when needed to increase our base of comprehensive skills. TSS today can provide services that include, but are not limited to:
 
 
The TSS team can provide for complete "turnkey" LAN\WAN installations, backed by experienced personnel, to offers our clients an excellent means of insuring their networking requirements are met in a high-quality and dependable fashion.
 
 
 
Network Design and Installation
 
TSS personnel have extensive LAN design skills, capable of designing both Token Ring and Ethernet LANs, as well as WAN. Cabling system skills include: all activities associated with the design, installation and on-going support of cabling distribution systems for voice, data, video and imaging communications technologies. Site preparation, audits of existing systems, and testing and certification are some of the services TSS can provide. All design and implementation is in accordance with Government and industry standards, including EIA/TIA 568A, BICSI, NEC, NFPA/IEEE, and Category 5 Systems TSB 36/40.
 
All design work that TSS accomplishes is the result of an initial on-site visit, specification review and review of the building specifications in detail. From this survey, complete physical, logical designs are completed using AutoCAD, augmented by a comprehensive Bill of Materials. TSS experience includes a variety of concentrators and hubs, patch panels and wiring plants. All cabling, as well as hub products, are supported, including:

TSS has, and continues to work with many OEM manufacturers and third party providers, providing our customers the best possible mix of capabilities to meet their diverse maintenance requirements. This successful experience as a prime contractor, managing both direct and subcontracted maintenance, allows TSS to provide the comprehensive, "full-service" capabilities for our customers. Program Management
 
Experienced program management is critical to the effective administration of maintenance contracts. In more complex projects such as national, multi-vendor maintenance projects, management skill is particularly important. TSS has the experienced senior level managers to insure that all maintenance contracts are effectively managed and professionally administered.
 
Customer Support Desk
 
The TSS Team's Customer Support Desk offers flexibility in communications, offering direct call, fax or dial-up access to our facilities. Using the latest in automated tools, our customers can receive the prompt attention required to insure that problem identification, dispatch, resolution and follow-up are provided in the most efficient manner possible. Toll free hotline support is available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven days per week.
 
Parts Logistics
 
Using automated tools and experienced logisticians, TSS has access to a customized parts inventory system for use with each contract, based on Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), part criticality, response time, OEM distribution systems, and other factors. Based on this analysis, we maintain a parts inventory on-site, off-site, and OEM supplied parts to insure all customer response/repair requirements are met.

Relational Data Base Management Systems

Electronic Document Imaging Division
 
 
TSS in answer to customer request has remained product independent. TSS can provide an objective requirement analysis without any pre- determine product to recommend. Our relationship with nuermous suppliers of imaging hardware and software will permit TSS to negotiate on behalf of its customer for the right product based upon their needs. Our network expertise will allow us to support the entire system including the Imaging System. While we have remained product independent we have successfully installed IBM Image + and File Magic.
 
TSS can support our customers imaging requirements from the design phase through implementation and maintenance.

 

Telecommunication & Network Services Division
 
Overview
 
TSS team has substantial experience in the telecommunication market and, has the ability to provide: System Design Support; Acquisition Support; Operation Support; Maintenance Support; Software Development for Communications Analysis; Systems Moves, Adds, and Changes; Traffic Analysis, Modification; and Service of In House Switching Systems. Support includes:
 
 
Maintenance and/or Servicing In House Switching Systems
 
TSS personnel may install and/or lease lines to the customer for temporary use, as well as, testing and servicing lines leased by the customer from the local phone company. Within a phone center TSS can provide LAN interface services and CPU interface including switched versus Switching systems.
 
Problem Analysis of Installed Systems, Subsystems, Lines, and Trunks
 
TSS personnel can provide servicing, programming, and/or trouble-shooting all internal and/or external telecommunication subsystems. For example, TSS will sample, test, and/or troubleshoot all incoming telephone lines and/or trunks. These functions include Fiber Optic and Copper Cable transmission systems carrying both Voice and Data traffic.
 
Moves, Adds, Changes for all installed equipment
 
TSS services include analysis, design, and implementation of features (i.e., speed calling, call forward, call back, etc.), equipment functions (i.e., Voice only, Voice-and-Data, Data only, Tie-lines, etc.). Also software functions (call record, call record analysis, management reporting, call blocking, automatic rerouting and/or recovery, etc.).
 
Systems and Network Analysis
 
TSS services include programming the intelligent switch (PBX) to automatically route calls over FTS, FTS 2000, MCI, AT&T, or other network providers.
 
 
 
Traffic Analysis
 
These functions include the design, definition, and implementation of all systems Data tables to specify all station and/or line features and codes employed at a site.

Darrick T. Estes, Sr., President of Technology Solutions & Services, Inc.
Darrick Estes, Sr. is the President and CEO of Technology Solutions & Services, Inc. Mr. Estes was formerly with Xerox Corporation for 18 years. Most recently, Mr. Estes was a Senior Program Manager for 8 years in the Xerox Systems Integration Division. located in McLean, Virginia. His responsibilities included Federal Contract negotiations for Xerox Engineering and Printing systems solutions in addition to other Xerox product and services. Product negotiations included Document Conversion Services, Imaging and Centralized Printing solutions. In addition, Mr. Estes was the final approval authority for all deliverables and negotiating with internal and external customers on price and performance objectives.
Mr. Estes was selected by Xerox Corporation  to become one of the first Federal Service Negotiator for 3rd Party Maintenance Solutions.
As a Senior Account Executive to Xerox Corporation for the US Air Force. His responsibilityies included all product marketing strategy for ADP product, Copier product, Laser product and Facsimile product being sold through out this account.
Mr Estes has held the position of Sales Manager for Xerox Corporation with primary responsibility for Federal Accounts in the Baltimore Maryland Metro area.
Early in his career with Xerox Corporation he was appointed Account Manager for the State of Maryland and Hospital markets in the Baltimore Metropolitan area with responsibility for total sales coordination to State Agency's and Hospitals in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.
Mr. Estes served on active duty  and attained the rank of Captain in the Field Artillery Branch of Service.
He is a 1971 Graduate of Morgan State University with a B.A. in English
Other honors included ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate, and a member of the Presidents Academic Council
 
John D Robinson Director of Marketing and Business Development
John Robinson has been a marketing and business development professional in system integration, information systems and the computer industry for over 30 years. His background includes business development and marketing of minority, small and high tech businesses to Federal, State/Local governments and private industry. He has personally managed the development of several major application in system integration, document management/imaging systems, GIS/CADD and environmental engineering. Prior to joining Technology Solutions Services, Mr. Robinson provided business development services for several 8(a) and small business in the areas of System Integration, Business Process Reengineering, Imaging, Document Conversion, Training and Proposal Development. In addition he has established and managed an 8(a) organizations focused on information management and imaging technology in the mid 80s, from which strategic alliances/teaming relationships were established for winning partnership between various primes i.e., ManTech, CACI, Unisys, IBM and minority businesses. Over the past 30 years Mr. Robinson has been involved in the forefront of information technology as related to what was once call office automation. He began his career as a salesman for IBM in the early days of "word processing" and most recently working in the areas Business Process Reengineering. He has been successful in developing and managing long-term contracts with such agencies as the Dept. Labor, Office of Secretary of Defense, Army Logistic Command, Army Material Command, Coast Guards, Natl. Science Foundation and the District of Columbia.
 
Seble' Dejene Vice President of Finance and Administration
Ms. Dejene has over 12 years experience in financial services. Ms. Dijon has extensive experience in the following: Financial Analysis, Deltek accounting system, Contract Administration, Purchase Order Preparation, Invoice Preparation and Accounting. She was Deputy Controller at General Analytics Corporation, where she was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting functions to include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Financial Accounting and Budgeting Departments. She has held previous senior accountant positions with NKF Engineering, Inc., Katz, Abosh, Windsheim, Gershman & Freedman, PA, CPS'S. She has planned audit engagements, developed audit reports, and management letters and prepared federal, state and local tax returns for corporate, partnership, and individual clients. Ms. Dejene is a graduate of Ferris State College, Big Rapids, Michigan and holds a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Virginia, Falls Church, VA.

Raymond Dorsey, Electronic Document Imaging Division Manager
Raymond Dorsey has over 20 years experience in analyzing and developing commercial areas. He has over 20 years experience as a System Engineer for IBM with responsibility for system analysis and configuration, installing and testing selected electronic document management systems. Mr. Dorsey has conducted numerous detailed business process and workflow analysis and system design documents in both the Commercial and Federal market sectors. Electra Brown, Senior Telecommunication Engineer
Ms. Brown has over 15 years experience in project management/ supervisory experience with emphasis on computer information systems. She has successfully designed, implemented and provided troubleshooting expertise for LAN's, WAN's and communication systems in various operating systems environments. She is certified include the following: Novell LAN Administration, LANtastic Administration. Ms. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Strayer College, Washington, D.C. Ms. Brown is proficient in MS-DOS, MS-Windows, X-Windows, HP-UX, SCO UNIX, XENIX, OS/2, Lantastic and many other state of the art operating systems. Theodore (Ted) A. Mina - Senior Web Page Designer and Software Application Developer
Mr. Mina has oveer 16 years experience in Programming and Web page design. He has designed and coded web sites for clients, consisting of HTML text and image pages utilizing animated GIFs. Also designed and coded 'Ord-r-bot', a shopping cart CGI program written in C that allows retailers to conduct secure credit card order transactions on the World Wide Web. Gained in-depth familiarity with web site design, security issues, data encryption methods, CGI programming, graphics editors (Paint Shop Pro, Lview Pro), HTML authoring tools (Homesite, FrontPage, Hot Metal) and web browsers (NSCA Mosaic, Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Explorer).
Conceived, designed and coded an object oriented Employee Bonus Compensation system using JAVA Applications and JDBC. Development environment was IBM's Visual Age JAVA and Oracle DB via Intersolv drivers. System consisted of over 30 objects including database row collection objects. Initial design documentation and code skeletons were created using Rational Rose.
He has conversion project manager experience for PeopleSoft HR clients. He created project development and testing plans identified key technical issues and solutions supervised project team of 2 functional, 4 technical resources.
